The Annual Ballroom Dance Competition Part 1!

First off I would like to say sorry for not updating my blog, I have been rather busy recently and have been doing alot of documenting my huge collection. I really hope that I can get more done soon. But without further ado here is a part of another story, please forgive me that it is rather wordy!

The Annual Ballroom Dance Competition Part 1!

Chapter 1 – Delivering The Invitations

One sunny day in Little Eleville Village, the Sylvanian families were getting ready for a special event happening in the Grand Hotel. Every year the village holds its annual ballroom Dance competition and there’s always a special prise for the best couple - whether young or old!
Mayor Bill Waddlington had put up the poster for the event and had Post bear Pete Petit to deliver the invites to all the villagers, which there were many, in fact 29 family’s altogether!! He thought it best to start in the town; he saw the Bamboos, the Walters, the Mc Burrows, the Maces, the Bearberrys and the Dappledawns. The villagers always enjoyed getting their post and especially the ballroom invites!!

The next stop was Cosy Cottage the home of the Babblebrook’s, Pete knocked on their door to be greeted by Rocky who gratefully took the post and had a natter about Pete’s adventures that very morning. Pete Petite explained how he was busy delivering all the Annual Ballroom invitations out.

Chapter 2 – The Week Before
The week before the event, Mayor Waddington called into the school when the children had gone home.

"Hello Professor Bearberry, I was wondering if you would like to play at the Grand next week, as you know the annual Eleville dance competition is next Friday."
"Mayor Waddington how nice to see you and yes I would like that very much. Would you like the new school orchestra to play a few tunes?"
"Hmmm" thought Mayor Waddington, "That would be a splendid idea. Will you have enough time to get rehearsed?"
"Of course we will, we practice 4 days a week."
"Well that’s just grand, I can’t wait to hear them, I better head out and get the decorations and the cakes sorted, goodbye for now"
"Hope you can get the decorations ready in time, goodbye"

Next Bill waddled to the cake shop, which the Bamboos owned. "Hello Bertrum and Alexandra, can I order some of your delicious cakes for the competition next week?" "Why hello Mayor Bill, of course you can, how many would you like to order?" Alexandra asked "Can I get 20 cupcakes and 20 biscuits please, that would be grand. Can you deliver them next Friday morning?" "Yes of course we can, see you then"

Meanwhile... Tilly and Theodora Dappledawn were busy picking up the weekly shopping... Mrs McBurrows mole had chosen a nice pair of sandals to go with her pretty dress. The mole children were looking at the new toys!!

Chapter 3 – Buying the Special Prise!!!

Next Bill decided to get the Prise for the wining couple; he spotted a crystal duck in the window of the Sylvanian Market and thought "oh that is a perfect prise".

So while the Babblebrook girls had a cuppa in the tearoom, Mr McBurrows was having a natter with doctor Murdoc. Bill spoke to Kate Perriwinkle who worked in the store and mentioned the crystal duck.

He came out of the Sylvanian market feeling very happy that he had such a splendid prise.

Chapter 4 – Getting the Hotel Ready!

The Day before the Annual Ballroom Dance Competition had arrived. The Wildwood and The Perriwinkle Rabbits were busy getting the Grand Hotel decorated in time; it took them a good couple of hours to get everything ready. Herb and Rusty Wildwood and Alex Perriwinkle put up the bunting; it was a very tricky job, standing on the ladder!

Mayor Bill Waddlington and Professor Bearberry had driven to the hotel together, bringing along all the instruments to get set up. They were both looking forward to seeing what the Wildwoods and Perriwinkles had done to decorate the hotel. When Bill stepped out of the car, he saw Rusty Wildwood standing on the Balcony… the bunting looked brilliant!

Herb Wildwood and Alex Perriwinkle greeted Mayor Bill and Professor Bearberry at the car and got ready to help take the instruments inside.

Herb Wildwood realised that they needed there boys and called Rusty and Oliver to come and give them a hand… “Rusty, can you and Oliver come and give us a hand? There’s too many instrument’s for us to take inside!”
“Yes dad, here we are!” Rusty replied, as both boys were standing behind the fathers.
“What perfect timing that was, you can help us form a line and get everything inside.” Professor Bearberry said.

The next Instrument they brought inside was the Big Piano; Professor Bearberry had an idea… “Herb can you go there, Bill can you come here, Alex can you go there and I will be at the end, then Rusty and Oliver can you be our Looker outers for the stairs and doors?” “Yes that’s fine Professor!” everyone replied.

“Right is everyone ready, let’s get this piano inside!  Ready steady and Lift!” said Professor Bearberry. Rusty and Oliver were giving everyone Encouragements and telling them where things were, to get the piano inside safely… it took them a good 20 minutes to get it into the right place on the dance floor!!

Before long all the instruments had been put into place, ready for the orchestra to take their places the next day.
Before leaving the Grand Hotel, Bill had another look at the front bunting; it really did look grand…
The end of part 1... I hope you enjoyed the story so far, i will get part 2 up soon as well... this story is too long for 1 post!!
