The Story of The New Post Office and Toy Shop in Little Eleville

Hello everyone!

So sorry for not updating in such a long time. I suppose i've moved on to an extent and i think that is also due to the fact of building work and moving all my collection... plus i now dont have anywhere to really take any photos :( Such a shame. So for now and untill my sis moves out... i will have to put up with not being able to do anything with my collection.

But before i go on to much about that... Here is the New story! I am so sorry it has taken me soo long to finish it and up load it on here. Hope you enjoy the next installment of the Little Eleville Building project.

The New Post Office and Toy Shop in Little Eleville

Chapter 1
One fine day in Little Eleville down in the high street where quite a few families were busy doing their shopping. Bill Waddlington was having a discussion with two new shop owners who both needed their shops built.

“Hello Major Bill any news about the new buildings yet? I’m looking forward to having somewhere to sort the post out! There are too many villagers’ now, who are sending post to each other!” Pete stated
“Well Pete Petite, I have some good news for you and Betty Hawthorn here! Alonzo Macavity and his crew, are in the process of finishing building both of your new shops today. So you may of course help him with the interiors for your shops! I’m also very excited to see more buildings going up!” Bill replied
“Oh that is fabulous news Major Bill; I never thought the day would come!” Betty chirped in happiness back.

The village postman Pete Petite was looking for a shop to help him with all his work load. He didn’t like not having anywhere to sort the post, especially since there has been an increase in villagers!! This has meant he has a lot more post to sort! He had asked Bill back in the village meeting about having a place to call his own.
The other new business was a Toy shop, Betty’s Toy box to be exact. Betty Hawthorn and her family had recently moved to Little Eleville at the prospect of having the chance of owning her own business with her sister Valerie. Basil her husband, had got a job in the Grand Hotel recently as the head chef!

Chapter 2

A little way along the street, Alonzo and his building crew were outside two shop buildings which needed some last minute things to be done. The Post office was first to be built.
“Righto Taylor and Maurice, we have two buildings to get finished before the grand openings this evening! We just need to add the roofs and the signs and then put the main interiors in. Let’s get to work!”

Taylor Timbertop and Maurice climbed up the ladder and started to put the roof on with a lot of toing and froing!
“To me” Taylor said and Maurice would reply with “and to you” which were the only things said while they were on the roof doing the building work!

On the ground Alonzo was constantly saying “please be careful up their guys.”
“Alonzo, please could you pass up the sign for us please!” Taylor called from up on the roof.
“Ok, here it is and please make sure you put that sign up striate!”  Alonzo replied to Taylor. He always needed to make sure that his men did their jobs right because he didn’t want to have any trouble if someone fell off!

Pete Petite wondered over and oversaw the work with Alonzo. “Wow aren’t they doing a fabulous job of the building work!” Pete said to Alonzo who in turn agreed whole heartedly. “They certainly are my best men for the job!”

As soon as Taylor and Maurice had finished putting the finishing touches on the Post Office, they got started on Betty’s Toy shop next door. During this time Alonzo and Pete were able to have a quick look around.

“To me” and to you” Could be heard by Taylor and Maurice as they got the roof into place. “Hey, Alonzo can you pass the sign up please!” Maurice called down.
“Why here you go guys, I’m just chatting with Pete. Please be super careful, Bill is watching you guys for me.”

Before too long Taylor and Maurice had finished building both shops and came down to help start moving in the furniture for both shops.  Pete had ordered a Counter, till and a phone which had all been delivered that very day along with Betty’s order for her shop as well.

Chapter 3

“Ooo look at this fabulous desk I now have to sort the post on! Can one of you give me a hand to lift it?” Pete said while stroking his new antique desk.
“Why of course I can, wow this desk really is nice!” Maurice said.  He quickly got into place at the other side of the desk and the two of them started moving it.
“To me” and “To you” could be heard again but at least this time Maurice was safe on the ground. It took them 5 mins to put the new Desk inside the Post office; they had to be careful of the step up!

“There we go, why it does look good in here!” Maurice said
“Yes it certainly looks fantastic! And thank you very much for the help.”
“You are most welcome” Maurice said, “Would you like me to bring in your last few bits and pieces for you?” “No, that’s alright as it is only a till.”
While Maurice was busy being the helpful giant he is, Taylor had got a bit distracted! Three of his children where in the high street and they had bought some nice sweet treats from Marion Brighteyes who works in the Cake Shop.

“Oo, those do look good children, would you like to see us put in the furniture for the new shops?” Taylor asked his children. “Oo Yes please dad!” They all said together. “Hang on dad… is that what I think it is?” Daisy asked, “Yes it is… I expect all the children will be super happy about this shop!!” Taylor replied excitedly.

Chapter 4

While this was going on, Betty looked in her shop with wide eyes of wonder, thinking of the layout she wanted for her shop! The furniture was waiting to be placed inside her new shop and Betty was super excited. “Would you like us to help you bring your furniture into your shop Betty?” Maurice asked her. “Why yes please that would be super helpful!” Betty squeaked happily.

Five minutes later Maurice and Taylor were carrying a rather heavy display unit for Betty.  “Ooo that storage unit looks lovely!” Betty said excitedly while holding two baskets in her hands. “Why yes it is lovely Betty… but why red?” Taylor asked inquisitively.  “Oh it is red because it matches my shop sign!!” Betty said happily.
“Oh I see, now why didn’t I think of that?!” Taylor Giggled.  After some more lifting and heaving the guys managed to get the unit into the shop, Betty over saw it and told them where to place it at the back of her new shop. “Oh that’s perfect guys!”

Next was the counter with some extra baskets on top! “Are you ready, steady Lift?” Taylor stated… a few minutes later the counter was in and Betty was now able to see her shop take shape!

“Now just for the till and all the toys! I can’t wait to see all the children’s excited faces!!” Betty squeaked in excitement!  While Betty was thinking these things, Taylor just happened to have heard her and brought over the till! “Here you go Betty” Taylor said.  “Oo why thank you Taylor!”

Chapter 5

Later on in the afternoon after they had a break for lunch; Betty, Maurice, Alonzo and Taylor were busy getting all of the new toy stock into Betty’s shop!
“Ooo wow did I order a lot of toys…!” Betty mused with her new friends. “Why yes you did order a lot but considering we have got over 90 youngsters, ordering this many is probably for the best!” Alonzo stated “Especially as everyone seems to be having twins at the moment!”

“Right let’s do this shall we, first of all I think we had better put the toys in the brown boxes on the display unit…” Betty stated to everyone.  Sooner or later everyone was busy setting toys on the display unit, filling the baskets on the counter and putting the doll’s house at the back.

15 minutes later they finally had the shop filled out with all the toys which looked amazing and behind her new till; Betty looked the part ready for her young customers! “Oo thank you guys, your help means the world to me!” Betty said happily to the gentlemen.
“You are most welcome Betty!” Alonzo, Maurice and Taylor said together. The mayor Bill Waddlington had waddled over to inspect what they had all been up to and he was very impressed to say the least. “Well done guys, the shops look amazing!”
Chapter 6
Later on in the evening, the finishing touches had been done and with a beautiful red ribbon along the front of both shops, with Bill, Betty and Pete inside. Bill started to call everybody who was in the High Street over, “Please come over everyone I have a very important job to do, to open two very new shops in our little High Street!”

After hearing the announcement everyone who was in the high street wondered over for the grand openings of the Village Post Office and Betty’s Toy Box.  Some people didn’t know that the shops had been built and others had known all along, so they had brought some letters and parcels along with them ready for after woods!

“It is with much happiness that I have the honour to open two new shops in our village. I have been very aware that we needed a post office for Pete to be able to sort and store the post, and of course all the village children have been asking for a toy shop… Even my own three precious darlings have been asking me too!! So I introduce to you someone relatively new to the village – Mrs Betty Hawthorn! Please can we all say a huge welcome to her and her family! And can we also say a big well done to Alonzo and his building crew!!” Bill said very happily to the crowd who had gathered.

“Hello Betty and welcome” everyone was saying to Betty and then there was a chorus of “Hip Hip hooray to Alonzo and his building crew!!”

“Ok and without further ado I now declare the Village Post Office and Betty’s Toy Box Both Officially Open!” Bill said cutting the red ribbon.

Everyone was happy; the children were going up to Betty’s new shop and looking at all the toys. Balls, cars, dolls, books and all sorts of toys were bought by excited children.
The older members of the village were happy to take their letters and parcels over to Pete to get ready to send off for them.  The Frisian children were riding their bikes over with letters and a parcel to post.

Everyone was so happy and excited – especially Betty Hawthorn and Pete Petite who were from now on very busy shop owners!
