Doctor Murdoch's New Hospital!

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for reading my blog :) I hope my stories are bringing lots of smiles to you!
Here is the brand new story that I've been wanting to write ever since I bought the "Cottage Hospital" - a vintage Tomy building from 1991 which i got on EBay in April! I've wanted this for a very long time and so has someone else... so lets get on with the story!!!

Doctor Murdoch's New Hospital!

Chapter 1 – In the old village – nowhere to work

Doctor Murdoch has lived and worked in Little Eleville village for many years.
Everyone loves how kind and patient he is.

But there has always been 1 problem... He has never had anywhere to set up his practise and he always had to walk to his patients, which is a long day’s work! There is always someone needing his help, in getting better or to deliver a set of twins!

Chapter 2 – The Village Meeting

One day he decided to visit the Grand Hotel, where the Mayor Bill Waddlington was holding a village meeting, asking if anyone had any ideas on how to build Little Eleville village up, this was because they were getting a lot of new families visiting and deciding to settle in!!

Everyone was discussing new shop ideas, like a boutique, a bakery, supermarket and market.
"What about a market where we can buy all kinds of items?" Spencer Maces asked
"Oh how I would love to be able to go clothes shopping for us... Be so nice for a change...” Victoria Truffels asked
"We really need a supermarket... Our small shop doesn’t really help us much now... We need more variety and choice, especially as there’s so many of us now." Hugo Trunks said
"It would be nice to have some new houses as well, as we can’t all settle in the Grand hotel and the Rose of Sylvaniana?" Bruce Springer asked

There were a few older children who were asking for a new toy shop and some much needed musical instruments and sports equipment for the school.
"It would be so cool if we could have more equipment and instruments for our school... It was alright but we now have over 50 children... It isn’t enough anymore." The older children asked

"Ok, ok, they are all fantastic ideas. We certainly will develop some new homes and shops as time goes by. Children, why don’t you speak to your professors about fundraising for the instruments and sport equipment?" Mayor Bill suggested
"Alright mayor, we will ask our professors."

It was finally Doctor Murdoch’s chance to speak... they decided to speak in the office as it gave them a bit more space to discuss what Doctor Murdoc wanted to say.

"Bill, would it be possible if we could have a pharmacy and a hospital? I could really use the space to see my patients and as our village is getting busier, it is making it difficult to see everyone as quick and we could do with a pharmacy to deal with the medication I prescribe."
"Hmmm.... I can’t see why we can’t build a hospital of some sort; I think we would all appreciate you having a place to work Doctor Murdoch. You have been here a good number of years and am I correct that you have never had anywhere to work?"
"Yes that is correct Mayor and it has been getting me a bit down recently because I have seen many new families who have joined the original 5 families and if I am correct... We now have 27?"

“Yes that is also correct, which is why we need to build our village up with new shops, hospital, markets and homes. I will make sure that every idea is put out and that new places will be built. Thank you for mentioning the hospital idea."
"Your welcome and I look forward to seeing things getting built."

Chapter 3 - The phone call....

Everyone left the meeting feeling happy that they got their points across... But now poor Mayor Waddlington had a very big task on his hands... Time to call the builders and see what could be done... Most importantly making sure there was a place for Doctor Murdoch to work, he understood how the doctor must feel as he had to work in the hotel as the homes situation was getting serious...

“Hello Alonzo, How are you today? Have much business at the moment?”

“Why hello Bill, I’m alright thank you and I don’t have much to do at the moment.”

“Well I have a big building project for you and your fellow building buddies… building Little Eleville up – homes, shops and a hospital for doctor Murdoch who is in much need of his own place to work!”

“Why I love that idea, I will call my fellow building buddies and we will get a move on! Thank you Bill, I won’t let you down.”

Chapter 4- The Little Eleville Building Project Crew!

Strait away Alonzo got onto the Little Eleville building project… first he called his building buddies over – Alex Perriwinkle is the Shop Signs designer, Kenneth Furbank and Rupert Buckley who also help out with the building tasks.  “Hey guys, I have been asked by the Mayor that he would like us to build our town up! He wants homes, shops and a hospital. So let’s get to it!” Alonzo said. They got involved and started building some small shops. Working together and building away.

Chapter 5 – Building the Market

The building work went on for months, more and more homes, shops and other buildings were being built. The first big shop was called the Sylvanian Market which the guys got on with very quickly. They ended up asking Taylor Timbertop and Maurice Marmalade to help them out as they needed help with lifting things up into place!  Spencer maces who as the owner wanted to make sure everything was being placed correctly! “Spencer is this where you want this to be placed?” “Is this too high?”

Chapter 6 – Doctor Murdoch and His Discovery…

A week or so later, as Doctor Murdoch was on his rounds, he spotted a new building.... It was called the Sylvanian market. He decided to take a look and see what was there, and to his surprise... There was his Pharmacy he had asked for.... Not only did it have a pharmacy with all kinds of medical supplies... There were personal care products, baby food and other similar items, clothes, toys, posh crystal items, books to cater for all and a small tea-room which only had space for 2... He watched as the Maces family were busy stocking the shelves, windows and book racks.

"Wow what a fantastic shop, this is much bigger than I thought it would; and if I ask the Maces who seem to be the owners, then I might have found a place to work until my hospital is built!" Doctor Murdoch thought to himself with a smile, before knocking on the Pharmacy windowsill.
A minute later Spencer Maces looked out the window "Why hello Doctor Murdoch, how can I help you?"

"Would it be possible to work with your family here Spencer in your pharmacy?"
"Why of course you can Doctor Murdoch, Mayor Bill said you might ask and we would all love you to and you can teach us about how to sell the medication which you prescribe to our poorly friends in Little Eleville."
"Oh that is fantastic, thank you so much Spencer!"

Doctor Murdoch started at the market straight away and got himself and his box of bits settled in!

Chapter 7 – The Grand Opening!

A couple of days had passed by and Mayor Bill was at the Sylvanian market on its official opening day!!! There was a lovely red ribbon waiting to be cut outside the main doors. There was a big crowd of customers waiting to see Mayor Bill say his speech and cut the ribbon!

"We are at the start of our Little Eleville building programme and to start things off we now have a village market which has all kinds of items from medical supplies, personal care products to toys and books for all and even a mini tearoom to! Spencer Maces, his family and Doctor Murdoch who now has somewhere to work, cannot wait to serve and speak to you in the new Village Market; Which I Now Pronounce is Officially Open!!" With the end of his speech, Mayor Bill cut the Red Ribbon to the new Market.
Everyone was excited to see Doctor Murdoch in his new work place; it meant that he could do routine check-ups and give any medication out.

After their very busy opening day, Spencer Maces asked Doctor Murdoch a question.... "So what do you think... Is this better than having to walk to everyone?"
“Oh that was so much better than walking to everyone. Now all I will have to do is only go on home visits, if there is an emergency instead of every little thing!” Doctor Murdoch said with a smile.

Every day Doctor Murdoch worked in his new pharmacy and saw many of his patients. He found it was much easier than walking to everyone and at least now he had his pharmacy to give out the medication!

“Oh Doctor Murdoch, my Nelly isn’t feeling very good today”

Chapter 8 – Building the Hospital!

A few months had passed since the Sylvanian market had been built, Doctor Murdoch was very happy and got on with everything there and built up a fantastic friendship with the Maces family. So because he was so busy, he didn’t notice a small building being built in Little Eleville High Street……

Alonzo called his building friends over, this time he only had Alex Perriwinkle, Taylor Timbertop and Maurice Marmalade. “Hey guys, right time to build our very special village Doctor his Hospital… and we all know he has dreamed of this being built for many years! Let’s get to work!”

Maurice and Taylor climbed up the ladder which Alex was holding, they managed to build the base of the building and were getting on with the roof and sign.

Taylor and Maurice had to work really well, Alonzo called out encouragements as he over saw how everything was going... “Steady and go carefully.”
“To you to me” said Taylor and Maurice… Soon they had the roof into place

Alex picked up his new Sign Master piece and passed it up to Taylor…

Soon enough Taylor and Maurice had got the sign in the correct place and came down the ladder…

Once they had all got finished, they took a step back and admired their work…
“Wow wont Doctor Murdoch be pleased with this!” Taylor said,
“Yes I love it as well, but we must furnish it now, it looks rather bare apart from the clock on the wall!!” Alonzo said
Soon they were busy bringing in the furniture and making the empty hospital into a functioning hospital!

Chapter 9 - Phoning the Mayor with the Good News!

After a week of hard work, Alonzo called Mayor Bill.

“Hello Mayor Bill, I just wanted to say that the hospital is built and already for Doctor Murdoch to use.”

“Oh that is fantastic news Alonzo, I cannot wait to see it for myself and of course our special Doctor too! See you tomorrow at the unveiling!"

Chapter 10 – The Grand Opening of Doctor Murdoch’s Hospital!

The very next day news had gotten round that the new Hospital had been built and Doctor Murdoch was very excited!
Everyone was waiting outside, their stood Mayor Bill waiting to say his speech and cut the ribbon.

“It is with much pleasure and happiness that I am here today. After months of planning with Alonzo Macavity and his builders, they have built for our very special doctor Murdoch his very own hospital. I am sure you all know that he has dreamt of owning his own practice and years of walking around to everyone have been hard work. I hope that you will enjoy and love your new hospital for years to come. I can now officially say that… Doctor Murdoch’s Cottage Hospital is now open!” Mayor Bill said

“Let’s say a hip hip hooray to Doctor Murdoch!” shouted Alonzo!!
“Hip Hip Hooray!!” shouted everyone!
“Oh thank you so much Alonzo and his building crew, I wouldn’t have had this opportunity if it wasn’t for you. So thank you to everyone who has helped, especially Mayor Bill, for if you hadn’t listened to me in the first place, I would still very much be walking around to everyone!!!” Doctor Murdoch said with a very big Smile on his face.

Doctor Murdoch got settled into his new hospital straight away, everything was already in place, so all he had to do was wait for his patients to arrive!

Before too long, Grand Mother Laura Maces had popped along to say hello but also to see if the Special Doctor Murdoch could help with her cough!
 The End....
As you can see... I know own a very happy Doctor Murdoch! I've owned him since the late 1990's and well thats a very long time to not have anywhere to work...! I hope you have enjoyed the story as much as i enjoyed writing it! x
