From two broken country cottages to one perfect one!

Hi all,

Sorry it’s taken me ages to put a new blog up…. The flame seemed to have diminished within me due to not being able to get to much of my collection… that was until recently when I found someone on a Facebook page I belong to who just happens to love Sylvanians as much as me and who also belongs to the Sylvanian forum page! Thanks to Bryony, I now have the spark back after about a year and a new friend!! This post I should have done back in the beginning of September but because my flame had practically disappeared… I didn’t have the motivation to do it. So after many months here is my new blog post!

From two broken country cottages to one perfect one!

I was very lucky and I managed to find not one but two country cottages on Facebook selling page… I bought the first one without knowing about the damage and then the second one – was in perfect nick but annoyingly the seller didn’t wrap it up appropriately and it broke in transit.  So I ended up with two broken cottages….

So after some moaning , a year of one being broken, the new one had been stuck in the lounge for  two months and I had applied to the royal  mail for a refund which I received a book of 6 first class stamps (better than nothing!)…. My dad and I Finally managed to make two broken cottages into one perfect one!!! Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures while we were fixing them… I will just explain what we did. Here are the before pictures!

Cottage 1 - bought summer 16.
The first broken cottage was a real mess… we decided to save the frame as it was in perfect nick unlike the rest of the cottage – where different sections of the cottage were falling apart – including the door hinge!

Cottage 2 - Bought October 17
The second cottage which got knocked in transit, the frame had a few broken chips in it…. So what dad and I did – was use the frame from the first one and used the main shell of the second one as the base!

How we made 2 broken cottages into 1

So we took off all the old excess dried up glue off of the first frame.  Then we removed the frame from the second one which was hard to take off and needed a lot of strength to do it. In doing this some of the joins came undone. So dad and I had the fun task of using epoxy glue to fix all 3 different joins together. Once glued, I had to hold all 3 different joins in place – which is why I wasn’t able to get any pictures of us doing it! While these areas dried enough, dad started to put glue along the front area where the frame was going to be placed. We managed to put it on quite quickly and got it into place… then we had to hold it in place for at least 5 mins to make sure it was safely stuck! We left it to dry for 3 days to ensure it had stuck safely into place and that it wouldn’t move.

And here is the finished country cottage! You would never know that we had made 2 cottages into one here... would you! :D Its So nice to finally have a replacement country cottage - after i had to let go of my original one in 2008 because my family thought i was ready to let go of things! Hmm they were defiantly wrong there and why it had to be the vintage cottage of all things! but at least I've got one now!!! :D

Mini story  - moving in!!

“Oooo, what do we have here?” Bubba asked excitedly while standing outside of the new house.

“Well, it looks like our new but old cottage from our past village!” Grandma pearl and Grandpa Cliff said very happily at the same time!
“Oooo, super cool! Can I open the door?” Bubba asked very excited – he had always been such an inquisitive and adventurous boy!
“Yes open that door and go and explore!” Grandpa Cliff said as Bubba very quickly opened the new door… and there was lots of old vintage furniture!

“Oh Cliff, its like we never moved! I love it!” Grandma Pearl said to her husband.
“So do I Pearl! I couldn’t be happier!” Grandpa Cliff responded.

Everyone came in and found a space for themselves

Well i hope you all enjoyed this post... its nice having the buzz back and while its still here i will try and get some stories going! taking the pictures on the other hand is another matter entirely but i will try my best to get something up at some point!

Lynne :)
